  Patient Information - Schedule

If you are a self pay patient or your insurance company does not require that you have a referral from your primary care physician, you simply call us directly at 407-478-1550.

If your insurance does require a referral from your physician, your doctor must authorize all exams prior to scheduling. Your doctor fills out one of our referral forms, which is then faxed to us. Occasionally, your doctor may use one of his own prescription forms to fax to our office. If our referral forms are not available, a form may be downloaded from our Web site for printing and faxing.

For routine exams, we will always be able to schedule your exam time within 48 hours, if needed, and often in less than 24 hours. For stat, wet read, or emergency cases, we will schedule you immediately.

Once your referring doctor has submitted an order to Neuro Imaging Winter park, our office staff will contact you to obtain basic information.

WHEN TO ARRIVE FOR YOUR EXAM
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your exam start time. If you are to receive oral or intravenous sedation, we ask that you please arrive 30 minutes prior to the exam start time. IF YOU ARE RECEIVING SEDATION, PLEASE HAVE SOMEONE AVAILABLE TO DRIVE YOU HOME AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT.

HOW LONG WILL THE EXAM TAKE?

Typically, an MRI will take between 15 and 30 minutes. If there is more than one body part being examined, an MRI may take up to 45 minutes. A CT scan will usually take less than 15 minutes.

FORMS TO BRING
Please make sure to bring your insurance card and your exam prescription from your referring doctor to your appointment.

MUSIC
You may bring your own music CD for your MRI exam.

HOW TO DRESS
You may wear regular clothes to your appointment. However, all MRI patients will be provided a hospital gown prior to the MRI exam. Jewelry and other metal items will need to be removed before the MRI or CT Scan.

WHAT TO EAT
MRI- You may eat prior to your exam. However, if you are scheduled for an MRI of the pancreas or gallbladder (MRCP), please refrain from food or drink for two hours prior to your exam.

CT scan-You may eat prior to your exam. However, if you are scheduled for an abdomen CT, please refrain from food or drink for two hours prior to your exam.

CT scan with intravenous contrast- Please do not eat or drink for 2 hours prior.
Please note, if you are scheduled for oral or intravenous sedation, you should not eat or drink for 2 hours prior.

PRIOR FILMS
If you have had an imaging study (Xray, ultrasound, bone scan, mammograms, MRI, or CT) of the body part being imaged, please bring all pertinent films with any available reports to our office at the time of your appointment. Depending on what films you bring and their relevance to your exam, you may either take your films when you leave or return at a later time for pick-up.
